Presentations

Once again I was very interested to learn how technology is being used in other schools. It is amazing how many different ways the same program can be used to make it match the individual. I feel the teacher and planning team really need to know the strengths and weaknesses of each student to make appropriate decisions about the programs to be used. I found each presentation to look at a different aspect of technology and they covered early elementary through to adults. I really enjoyed working with the class and feel I am better informed with the technology out there to be used and how the schools are developing individual programs to help students succeed in schools.

Like you, I learned a lot more about technology through my participation in this class.

I found I learned a great deal from the different presentations as to what technology is available, and the difference their implementation can make in a student's life. I think everyone did a terrific job!

Working with the programs ourselves and really getting the hands on component I feel is the best way that we can learn about the various AT that are out there and what we can do with them and our students. I am not an auditory learner by any means and I need the hands on just like my students therefore this type of course is wonderful because it gives us this.

Kathy, I very much agree with your comment regarding the importance of a team approach when implementing AT in the classroom or with a particular student. Staff, parents, support staff, admin and the students need to part of the process and implementation if things are to work and if the student’s use of AT is to grow and develop.
